What is an autonomous floor scrubber?
An autonomous floor scrubber is a floor scrubbing machine that moves on its own: it maps the site, follows programmed routes, brushes, doses the cleaning solution, recovers the dirty water and dries the floor in a single pass, then returns to its docking station. It is also called a robotic floor scrubber or robotic scrubber.
What is the difference between an autonomous, a walk-behind and a ride-on scrubber?
The walk-behind is guided by an operative walking behind the machine. The ride-on is driven from a seated or standing position. The autonomous floor scrubber moves on its own along a mapped route, using LIDAR and cameras, and returns to its docking station. All three scrub on the same principle: brush, cleaning solution, squeegee and recovery. Some ride-on models are also autonomous and combine both modes.
Autonomous floor scrubber or robotic floor scrubber: are they the same thing?
Yes, in everyday usage. "Autonomous floor scrubber" is the cleaning industry's term, "robotic floor scrubber" the buyers' term. The nuance: compact multifunction robots sweep and vacuum as well as scrub, whereas the autonomous floor scrubber in the strict sense only scrubs and dries.
Can an autonomous floor scrubber work with customers or staff present?
Yes. The models we deploy detect people and obstacles, adjust their speed and stop if necessary. In a supermarket as in a reception hall, runs are preferably scheduled during off-peak hours, but coexistence with the public is part of the design of these machines.
On which floors does an autonomous floor scrubber work?
On commercial hard floors: polished concrete, epoxy resin, tiles, vinyl, stone. The choice of brushes and the pressure setting are adapted to the surface. Carpet is not scrubbing territory: it belongs to autonomous vacuuming.
What area does an autonomous floor scrubber cover?
The large format covers 2,000 m²/h at full coverage, more in targeted modes that scrub the detected dirty areas first. Compact multifunction robots cover 700 to 1,000 m²/h. The right sizing depends on your actual floor areas and how cluttered they are: that is what the demonstration is for.
How much does an autonomous floor scrubber cost?
Prices are not public: they depend on the model, the docking station, the level of service and the volume. Our model is a full-service subscription, with robots, teams, consumables, maintenance and a 72-hour continuity guarantee, or purchase with a maintenance contract for sites that equip their own teams. Autonomous floor scrubber or robotic scrubber: is it the same thing?
Yes: "robotic floor scrubber" is the everyday name for the autonomous floor scrubber, a scrubber-dryer that works without an operator. The term "autonomous floor scrubber" names the machine by its family, "robotic scrubber" by its autonomy; data sheets use one or the other.
What area does an autonomous floor scrubber cover per night?
From 2,000 to 5,000 m² for a compact 40 to 55 cm model and from 4,000 to 8,000 m² for a 55 to 75 cm model with a docking station, over a night shift, depending on clutter; observed productivity falls between half and two thirds of the manufacturer's rated productivity.
Does an autonomous floor scrubber need a water supply?
Without a docking station, no: it is filled and drained by hand, which limits its real runtime to one tank. With a water station, it needs a water supply and a drain close to the dock; that is what allows it to run cycle after cycle without intervention and to work overnight.
