Keenon KLEENBOT C40 · specs, operator review and alternatives (2026)

The Keenon KLEENBOT C40 is a compact 4-in-1 robot launched in 2025, for floor areas of 500 to 4,500 m² (retail, supermarkets, offices, hotels, hospitals). It scrubs a 400 mm path, sweeps 560 mm, carries 16 L of clean water and 14 L of recovery water, and stands out for its battery, swappable in 5 seconds, and its strong suction (23,500 Pa). It accepts short-pile carpet. Its structural limitation: it has no water station, so filling and draining are done by hand. Price and availability on request.

Fit by environment

Surface tierTarget 500 to 4,500 m². The battery swappable in 5 seconds is the key asset: work resumes without waiting for a recharge, so a large site can be covered in a day. But the lack of a water station caps that endurance: on 4,500 m², manually filling and draining the 16 / 14 L tanks becomes the real limiting factor, not the battery.
Footprint / aisles650 mm minimum passage width: compact for its capacity, at ease in retail and offices.
Floors and soiling4-in-1 with strong suction (23,500 Pa) and short-pile carpet: versatile on mixed soiling, including some short-pile carpet. Large debris: the 8 L bin is adequate, but very large volumes should be swept up beforehand.
Public / hoursPublic-area certification not communicated: to be checked at quotation stage for demanding public-access buildings.
Water handlingNo water station: the 16 L tank is filled and the 14 L tank drained by hand. This is the structural difference from the C55, which accepts a workstation connected to the building's plumbing.
Operating profileLong-lasting thanks to hot-swapping, but someone has to be on hand for the water. Purchase versus service considerations below.

Floors and soiling

A 4-in-1 with strong suction: its core target is mixed soiling on hard floors, short-pile carpet included. The triple wet/dry brush handles dry and wet soiling in a single pass. Large debris: the 8 L bin is adequate, but very large volumes should be swept up beforehand. Heavily ingrained greasy soiling: scrubbing helps, without replacing a dedicated stripping job.

What the manufacturer does not say

There is no water station for the C40. Filling and draining are done by hand. This is the operating constraint that caps its endurance on large sites, despite the swappable battery, and the real difference from the C55.

The 1,100 m²/h is a rated figure: work from a lower real-world value when sizing a fleet.

No published customer reference. A trade show (ISSA PULIRE 2025) is sometimes listed as a customer reference: it is a trade show, not a deployment. A recent model, with little operating feedback in Europe.

Public-area certification not communicated; to be secured for public-access buildings.

Buying or contracting out

If you buy (capex), the total absence of a water station caps the C40's endurance on a large site: filling and draining by hand, despite the swappable battery. Under a full-service contract (opex), this water logistics and the operating continuity rest with the contractor, which removes the model's main constraint. See the Pudu range and the on-site demonstration, or our robotic cleaning service.

Strengths and limitations

Strengths

  • Battery swappable in 5 seconds: continuous operation without waiting for a recharge.
  • Strong suction (23,500 Pa) and short-pile carpet accepted.
  • Compact (650 mm passage width) for a target of up to 4,500 m².

Limitations

  • No water station: filling and draining by hand, a limiting factor on large sites.
  • Real-world productivity to be confirmed; public-area certification not communicated.
  • Recent model, little operating track record.

Alternatives

  • In the KLEENBOT family: the C55 (larger, with a water workstation and 5 cm threshold clearance) when the floor area exceeds 4,500 m² or a water station is needed; the C20 below it.
  • Against compact 4-in-1 robots: the Gausium Phantas and the Pudu CC1 / CC1 Pro.

For a comparison with the Pudu CC1 Pro, see the Pudu CC1 Pro profile. To put figures on it: request a quotation, weigh up rental against purchase, or book an on-site demonstration.

Frequently asked questions

Does the KLEENBOT C40 have a water station?
No. Filling and draining are done by hand, unlike the C55.
What floor area is it designed for?
500 to 4,500 m². The swappable battery helps cover a large site, but manual water handling limits the real endurance.
Does it scrub carpet?
Yes, short-pile carpet.
Is it certified for public-access buildings?
Not communicated by Keenon; to be checked at quotation stage.
